Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson passes away
Reverend Jesse Jackson, civil rights activist, Baptist minister and two-time presidential candidate, died at the age of 84, his family announced, CE Report quotes ANSA.
“Our father was a leader in service to the community — not only to our family, but also to the oppressed, the voiceless and the marginalized around the world,” the Jackson family said in a statement.
Jackson was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and rose to prominence during the civil rights era, taking part in demonstrations alongside Martin Luther King Jr.
