Richard Gere criticizes world leaders
Actor Richard Gere has spoken out against global political leaders like Benjamin Netanyahu and Donald Trump, saying that events like the Gaza conflict “should never have happened,” CE Report quotes ANSA.
He described such leaders as “not wise, but greedy and power-hungry people,” and emphasized that humanity can no longer afford to have such figures in power if it wants a peaceful and compassionate world.
Gere made these remarks while discussing the new documentary Dalai Lama – The Wisdom of Happiness, which he executive produced. The film, directed by Barbara Miller, Philip Delaquis, and Manuel Bauer, will be released in Italy from October 6 to 8 by Wanted Cinema.
The documentary features the 14th Dalai Lama, who, at age 90, reflects on peace, compassion, and emotional awareness. He explains that while prayer is beautiful, “it won’t change the world — you must act to create the world you want.” Gere said the film offers “medicine for the world,” teaching people how to take personal responsibility for their thoughts and emotions and to cultivate kindness, love, and compassion.
Gere, a practicing Buddhist who first met the Dalai Lama in 1982, said the spiritual leader’s example shows that wisdom and compassion are achievable in real life, not just ideals.
