Russia's plan to capture Moldova to fail

Russia's plan to destabilize Moldova and bring it back under Kremlin's influence will fail because citizens desire freedom and a European future, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement after fugitive oligarch Ilan Shor appeared in a video conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin, alongside a representative of the Russian bank PSB – an institution targeted by international sanctions and accused of financing voter corruption in Moldova.

“Shor, along with a PSB representative from Vladivostok, reported to Putin, like a dutiful employee, about his transactions. In fact, he reported on actions to destabilize Moldova, finance violence, electoral corruption, and his criminal network. The danger is clear: all of Putin's candidates will now work for Shor. Their infamous plan to capture Moldova will fail because Moldovans won't sell their country. Because Moldovans choose to be free and to decide their own fate,” Grosu said.

During the video conference, Ilan Shor mentioned that through his company A7 – under international sanctions – he conducted transactions of over 7.5 trillion rubles in partnership with the Russian bank PSB, also targeted by sanctions. Chisinau authorities assert that these actions are part of a broader plan by Moscow to influence elections in Moldova through illegal campaign financing and voter corruption.

Video footage from the fugitive oligarch's intervention was distributed on Telegram channels, confirming the direct involvement of Shor network in cooperation with structures under international sanctions.

The speaker emphasized that state institutions will counter these attempts and reiterated Moldova's commitment to continue its European path, alongside its Western partners.
