39 Parties Cleared for Moldova’s 2025 Election
Only 39 of the 66 officially registered political parties in Moldova are eligible to take part in next autumn’s parliamentary elections, Central Electoral Commission (CEC) President Angelica Caraman told MOLDPRES in an interview, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES
Caraman explained that parties had to submit leadership lists and asset declarations to the Public Services Agency (ASP). Those that failed to meet this requirement were disqualified. Of the 39 that qualified, 25 have complete files and 14 are conditionally registered, pending ASP confirmation.
Key changes for the September 28 vote include an earlier deadline for candidate registration — now 40 days before election day instead of 30 — and expanded postal voting, which now includes voters in Australia, Japan, South Korea, and New Zealand. Envelopes can also arrive one day later than before.
For voters, a new identity card issued by the ASP is now accepted at polling stations, in addition to regular ID documents and even expired passports.
