Netanyahu Nominates Trump for Nobel Peace Prize
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had nominated U.S. President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. During a dinner between the two leaders at the White House, Netanyahu handed Trump a letter he had sent to the Nobel committee. "As we speak, he is forging peace in one country, in one region after another," said the Israeli Prime Minister, CE Report quotes ANSA.
Trump Says Hamas Wants Ceasefire
According to President Trump, Hamas “wants a ceasefire” in Gaza. "They want to meet and want to reach" a truce, Trump told reporters at the White House when asked if recent clashes with Israeli soldiers would derail the ongoing talks in Doha.
Israeli Soldiers Killed in Gaza Bombing
Five Israeli soldiers were killed and 14 wounded by a roadside bomb in Beit Hanoun, northern Gaza, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported. Two victims, both 20 years old, were identified as Sgt. Meir Shimon Amar and Sgt. Moshe Nissim Frech from the Netzah Yehuda Battalion. The others will be named later. The IDF said the troops were on foot during ground operations and came under enemy fire while trying to evacuate the wounded. Two of the 14 injured are in serious condition.
Dinner Agenda: Gaza, Iran, and Abraham Accords
The dinner between Trump and Netanyahu in the Blue Room of the White House focused on closing a ceasefire deal in Gaza, negotiating a permanent agreement with Iran, and expanding the Abraham Accords—possibly including Syria. It was their third meeting since Trump's return to office.
No Oval Office, No Joint Press Conference
This time, the meeting avoided the Oval Office and public media presence, indicating sensitive discussions. Trump gave Netanyahu a critical boost by approving U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites during the recent "12-day war" with Israel and even called for an end to Netanyahu’s corruption trial—an unprecedented interference in Israel’s internal affairs.
Hamas Security Officer: ‘We’ve Lost 80% of Gaza’
A senior Hamas security official told the BBC the group has lost around 80% control of Gaza. "Almost all active leaders are dead," he said, with local armed clans filling the vacuum. Israel, meanwhile, rejected a conditional ceasefire from Hamas but agreed to continue negotiations in Doha, mediated by Egypt and Qatar.
Trump Still Optimistic About Ceasefire Deal
Trump remains "very optimistic" about a truce this week, though he admits the situation is volatile. A major obstacle remains: whether the ceasefire would lead to a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, as Hamas demands. No clear post-war plan for Gaza has emerged. Meanwhile, Trump and Netanyahu also discussed Iran and Syria, with the U.S. showing more openness than Israel toward the Assad regime and recent changes in southern Lebanon possibly easing regional tensions.
