Ireland will open a diplomatic mission in Moldova, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations and deepening dialogue between the two countries. The announcement was made during a meeting in Dublin between Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu and Irish Parliament Speaker Verona Murphy, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The two sides also agreed to begin negotiations on an agreement to provide social guarantees for Moldovan citizens residing in Ireland. Additionally, they discussed mutual recognition of driving licenses, with Moldova's government already approving the start of official talks on the matter.

Grosu emphasized Moldova’s appreciation for Ireland’s support on its European path and expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in trade and tourism. He noted that Ireland's success story in the EU and its use of the diaspora for national development serves as an inspiration for Moldova.

During his visit, Grosu also met with Irish lawmakers John Paul O'Shea and Michael Murphy to discuss expanding parliamentary cooperation and expertise sharing. Moldova is committed to strengthening its ties with Ireland as part of its broader European integration efforts.

The Moldovan speaker is on an official visit to the parliaments of the United Kingdom and Ireland from June 29 to July 2.
