The position of General Prosecutor in Moldova is now vacant following the appointment of Ion Munteanu as a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice. The decree was published in the Official Journal today, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

Munteanu, who served as interim General Prosecutor since October 2022, was selected by the Superior Council of Magistracy after winning a competition. Previously, he worked in the Capital’s Prosecutor’s Office and the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office. His appointment to the Supreme Court leaves the General Prosecutor role temporarily unfilled.
