Mitsotakis called for more frequent meetings of the council and highlighted plans to triple collaboration on electric interconnection projects. A major agreement with Italy’s state railway company was also announced, involving over €760 million in joint investments to modernize Greece’s rail system—an important step following the Tempi tragedy.

Discussions also covered Syria, Libya, and Ukraine, with a shared call for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine and a shift in migration policy priorities toward border protection and legal migration pathways.

On defence and trade, both leaders stressed the importance of strengthening European and bilateral military cooperation, while supporting closer ties with the US to avoid a transatlantic trade conflict and maintain Western unity.
