Trump Hails Japan Trade Progress

Politics

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that the U.S. and Japan made significant progress in trade negotiations aimed at avoiding steep tariffs, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency

"A Great Honor to have just met with the Japanese Delegation on Trade. Big Progress!" Trump posted on social media following the talks.

The meeting also touched on U.S. military support for Japan and what Trump described as “trade fairness.” Earlier this month, Trump introduced a 10% baseline tariff for many countries, with Japan facing potential tariffs of up to 24%. However, Tokyo and several other nations received a 90-day pause to negotiate.

While Trump struck an optimistic tone, no major breakthroughs were confirmed, and further details of the discussions remain unclear.
