China Denies Chinese Fighters in Ukraine
China rejected allegations from Ukraine that Chinese citizens were fighting alongside Russian forces in Ukraine. Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said the claims had no basis and reiterated that China’s position on the conflict is clear, urging Ukraine to recognize China’s efforts toward a peaceful resolution, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy had claimed two Chinese citizens were arrested in the Donetsk region while fighting with Russian troops, and that more may be involved. Kyiv summoned China’s diplomat to demand an explanation.
Lin emphasized that the Chinese government advises its citizens to stay away from armed conflicts and avoid participating in military operations. He also stated China was verifying the information provided by Ukraine.
