Justice Minister Igor Filkov and Montenegro counterpart Bojan Božović signed a joint statement for cooperation in the rule of law and judiciary independence, reaffirming their commitment for enhancement of cooperation and experience exchange in the respective fields, in the context of EU integration.

This cooperation is aimed at improving judicial independence and legal security, the joint efforts in the fight against corruption and organized crime, support to legal reforms and institutional strengthening, including the possibilities for institutional and financial support, digitization of judicial processes and increased transparency through e-services, the Ministry of Justice said in a press release, CE Report quotes MIA.

It adds that North Macedonia and Montenegro share many similarities in the reform process, especially within the Euro-integration, whereas the Reform Agenda within the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans are key to their progress towards full-fledged EU membership.

Regional cooperation is of essential significance for successful implementation of these reforms, especially in the judiciary, and today's meeting was an excellent opportunity for exchange of experiences and good practices that would help the countries overcome challenges on the EU path, reads the press release.
