Greece to Introduce Data Privacy Classes in Schools

Greece’s Education Ministry, in collaboration with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (HDPA), is set to introduce lessons on handling internet data privacy into the school curriculum. Education Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis announced the initiative during an appearance on ANT1 television on Wednesday, CE Report quotes Athens-Macedonian

"We will launch a program in schools, provided by HDPA, to teach children how to manage their relationships and data in the digital world," Pierrakakis stated.

The lessons, integrated into the IT syllabus, aim to equip students with basic skills to navigate challenges in the digital landscape. The initiative includes educational material and an augmented reality game, "Tzimanious," developed for primary and secondary students.

Following a meeting with HDPA President Konstantinos Menoudakos, Pierrakakis expressed confidence that the program could be implemented in the current school year, with a more comprehensive version planned for the next academic year.
