Poland Boosts Border Security Against Illegal Migration

Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said Saturday that over PLN 600 million (EUR 140 million) has been invested in strengthening the Polish-Belarusian border, including new technical, optical, and electronic surveillance systems, CE Report quotes PAP

Speaking at the Poland-Belarus-Ukraine border tripoint, he highlighted the effectiveness of the new electronic barrier along the Bug River in detecting illegal crossings in real time.

Kierwiński also noted that the Border Guard now has nearly 16,000 officers—the highest in its history—and plans to recruit 2,500 more.
