Tusk Warns of Border Checks Amid Migrant Concerns

Poland

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Monday that the government had invested significant resources — including "effort, money, sweat, and unfortunately some blood" — to secure the eastern border with Belarus, CE Report quotes PAP

He announced new measures to prevent illegal crossings from Lithuania and warned that Poland may reinstate checks at the Polish-German border. This comes amid reports that Germany may be sending illegal migrants to Poland.

Tusk said Warsaw has informed Berlin that any "doubtful" cases could prompt the return of border controls. These concerns have led to right-wing groups in Poland forming "Civic Guard" units to patrol the German border.
