
Polish Presidential Runoff Today
Polish voters are heading to the polls to elect their president for a five-year term. Incumbent Andrzej Duda concludes his second term in August, CE Report quotes PAP
The two candidates are Rafal Trzaskowski, a centrist from the ruling Civic Coalition, and Karol Nawrocki, supported by the conservative Law and Justice opposition.
Trzaskowski narrowly led the first round with 31.36% over Nawrocki’s 29.54%. Over 28.8 million Poles can vote at 32,143 polling stations, including 511 abroad and five on ships.
A ban on campaigning and polls is in effect until 9pm today, with violations punishable by a fine of up to PLN 1 million (EUR 238,000). Exit polls will be released shortly after 9pm, while official results are expected on Monday.
