North Macedonia Supports NATO Response to Emerging Threats

Army Chief of Staff, Major-General Sashko Lafchiski, took part Wednesday in the Military Committee of the North Atlantic Alliance at the Chiefs of Defence level at the NATO HQ in Brussels, saying the interoperability remains key for the Alliance's readiness, CE Report quotes MIA.

"We are supporting the NATO efforts for response to current and future threats," said General Lafchiski.

Regarding the Army's participation in NATO-led missions, Lafchiski highlighted the clear commitment of the army troops and their solidarity with allies.

It was highlighted that Macedonian troops are actively engaged in NATO-led missions in the eastern wing - Bulgaria, Romania and Latvia - and its role in the Alliance's collective training through NATO-led exercises, the Army General Staff said in a press release.

The Military Committee (MC) is the senior military authority in NATO and the oldest permanent body in NATO after the North Atlantic Council. It convenes at different levels and the highest level is at chiefs of defence level, which meets three times a year, two times at the NATO HQ and once in a NATO member.
