The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU) warns citizens to exercise caution during the winter holidays, stressing that installing and decorating the Christmas tree must be done responsibly to prevent fires and accidents.

According to IGSU, natural trees should be placed at a safe distance from heat sources, while artificial ones must be made of fire-retardant materials. Decorative electrical lights must be checked before being plugged in and disconnected at night or when left unattended. Lit candles should not be used near combustible materials, especially close to the Christmas tree, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

Firefighters emphasize that pyrotechnic items are prohibited inside homes, on balconies, stairwells, in apartment courtyards, or in crowded areas, as they can cause fires, severe burns, and injuries, endangering people’s lives, animals, and the environment.

Parents and responsible adults are urged to supervise children and not allow them access to pyrotechnics. IGSU calls on citizens to follow these rules to enjoy peaceful and safe holidays.

As reported by CE Report, on December 25, Christmas will be celebrated in the Republic of Moldova according to the new style. The series of holidays will continue on January 1, 7, and 8, which are non-working days.
