Drone crosses Moldova during Russian strike on Ukraine

Amid a massive drone attack carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukraine on Wednesday, May 13, an unmanned aerial vehicle crossed Moldovan airspace and was tracked over multiple regions before disappearing from radar.

According to the Air Operations Service of the National Army, the drone entered Moldovan territory at around 16:00 from the direction of Mohyliv-Podilskyi (Vinnytsia region) toward Sauca village, Ocnița district, CE Report via the Ministry of Defense of Moldova's official website.

At 16:05, it was reportedly observed by locals over the city of Bălți, moving toward Ungheni district. Later, at 16:19, it was detected by air surveillance systems in Lăpușna, and at 16:23 near Cărpineni, continuing southward.

The drone was later tracked across southern Moldova, including the area of Cahul. At 16:55 it reappeared on radar near Colibași, then at 16:58 crossed Cîșlița Prut, before disappearing near Giurgiulești.

Authorities also reported that the drone’s tracking was monitored until 16:26, when it disappeared from radar near Mingir.

During the incident, airspace in the northern and central regions was temporarily closed, but was later reopened at 16:59.

The Ministry of Defense of Moldova urges the public to follow safety instructions and immediately report any aerial objects or sightings to emergency services by calling 112.
