Kate Middleton to visit Italy for first time since cancer diagnosis
Catherine, Princess of Wales, will travel to Italy next week alongside her early childhood foundation, marking her first official trip abroad since revealing more than two years ago that she had been diagnosed with cancer, a disease now in remission, AFP reported on Wednesday.
The Princess of Wales, wife of Prince William, will visit Reggio Emilia in northern Italy on May 13 and 14 together with the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, which she established in 2021, CE Report quotes AGERPRES.
Her previous official trip abroad took place in December 2022, when she traveled to Boston in the United States alongside Prince William to attend the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony.
According to a spokesperson for Kensington Palace, the princess is “very much looking forward” to traveling to Italy to learn more about the educational system in Reggio Emilia, which places nature — a subject especially important to her — at the center of early childhood education.
The Princess of Wales revealed in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer, the nature of which was not disclosed, and that she had undergone chemotherapy treatment. She later announced in January 2025 that the disease was in remission.
Meanwhile, Charles III, who on Wednesday marked the third anniversary of his coronation and recently returned from a state visit to the United States, is also undergoing medical treatment for cancer.
