Mystery ends: missing Florida man found in submerged car
Ten years after his disappearance, the remains of Steven MacKrell from Florida have been found.
His car and body were discovered in a pond in Boca Raton, ending a long search for the man who vanished at age 25, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
According to Sunshine State Sonar, a private underwater search company, MacKrell’s remains were found on Thursday, October 2.
The team discovered his white Ford Fusion submerged in a pond near a highway in Boca Raton.
MacKrell was last seen on July 30, 2015. Around 1:30 a.m., he left a downtown Fort Lauderdale tavern and about an hour later was seen buying food at a gas station. He was supposed to meet friends but never arrived.
Surveillance footage from the gas station showed MacKrell arguing with another man. His mother, Astrid, told media that the video showed her son throwing a can at another car.
Investigations continue into how MacKrell and his vehicle ended up in the pond, roughly 33 kilometers from where he was last seen.
Police had checked nearly 200 ponds over the years in the search for the missing man and his vehicle. MacKrell leaves behind his daughter, Skylar, whom he had with his girlfriend Alicia Carr.
