Montenegro's Tuzi hosts Europe Day celebration
Europe Day was officially marked in Tuzi, Montenegro, with the participation of numerous officials, representatives of the state administration, local self-government, and citizens.
The President of the Municipality, Lindon Gjelaj, together with his associates and officials from Tuzi, hosted the Minister of Public Administration, Mr. Marash Dukaj, the Minister of European Affairs, Maida Gorčević, the Minister of Public Works, Majda Adžović, as well as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Montenegro, Peter Felten.
During a working meeting, views were exchanged on the importance of developing and strengthening local self-governments as the foundation of an efficient and modern public administration in the service of citizens, CE Report informs via the Montenegrin government website.
At the central ceremony, held at the “Mehmed Fatih” Madrasa, speakers highlighted the importance of Montenegro’s European integration, reform processes, and the role of local communities in strengthening European values and improving the quality of life for citizens. The event was followed by a rich cultural and artistic program, which contributed to a festive atmosphere and promoted the values of unity, diversity, and cultural variety.
Minister of Public Administration, Mr. Marash Dukaj, emphasized that European integration is not only a foreign policy goal, but a process that brings concrete changes in the everyday lives of citizens.
“Our task is to build a modern, efficient, and accountable public administration that serves citizens, rather than being an obstacle. Through reforms and institutional strengthening, we are creating a country where young people see their future and citizens feel security and trust in the system,” Dukaj said.
He particularly stressed that local self-governments play a key role in bringing European standards closer to citizens.
“The government has adopted a Draft Law on Local Self-Government, which in practice will strengthen local communities and become a turning point in the modernization of public administration. Without strong local communities, there is no strong state,” the minister of public administration stated.
As part of the program, the agricultural estate “Lučka Olive” was also visited, highlighting the importance of supporting local producers, developing rural areas, and strengthening sustainable agriculture as part of the European development agenda.
The celebration of Europe Day in Tuzi once again confirmed Montenegro’s commitment to the European path and the importance of partnership between state institutions, local self-government, and citizens in the process of European integration.
