Moldova plans free museum visits
Moldova will mark the International Day for Monuments and Sites with a national program of activities taking place from April to May 2026, including free museum visits, exhibitions, and educational events for the general public, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.
The events are organized under the theme “Emergency response for living heritage in contexts of conflict and disasters” and aim to highlight current challenges in protecting cultural heritage in the face of modern risks.
According to the Ministry of Culture of Moldova, the program includes a range of activities nationwide, such as free entry to museums across the country, thematic exhibitions, poetry recitals, workshops, photography exhibitions, and video presentations. There will also be awareness campaigns aimed at educating younger generations about the importance of built cultural heritage.
Students, university attendees, teachers, and researchers in the cultural field will take part in the activities, and the full program of events can be consulted online.
The International Day for Monuments and Sites is celebrated annually on April 18. The initiative belongs to the International Council on Monuments and Sites, launched in 1982 and officially recognized worldwide in 1983 by UNESCO. Its purpose is to promote cultural heritage and raise awareness of its diversity and vulnerability.
