Historic Church in Türkiye's Adana becomes thriving public library
The Provincial Public Library in Adana, Türkiye, which relocated to the 181-year-old Aya Nikola Church after its original building was damaged in the earthquake, has welcomed more than 65,000 visitors in 16 months thanks to its historic atmosphere.
The library’s building in the Kayalıbağ neighborhood of the central Seyhan district was damaged in the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

Built in 1845 by the Greek Orthodox community during the Ottoman period, the church was left vacant after its congregation departed following the population exchange between Turkey and Greece. It was later used as the Adana Archaeology Museum, the Adana Ethnography Museum, a museum storage facility, and the Kuruköprü Church Memorial Museum. This time, it has been furnished with books.
