Ottoman palace fashion showcased in Oman
Within the framework of the Oman International Exhibition and Forum (OMNEX), an event was held featuring a fashion show of the “Pearls of the Palace” collection, consisting of 16th–19th century Ottoman palace garments, prepared by the Samsun Olgunlaşma Institute, along with a traditional henna night ritual.
At the event held in Muscat, the capital of Oman, outfits reflecting palace life of the Ottoman Empire were showcased, presenting designs belonging to members of the dynasty, the harem, janissaries, princes and sultans. Prepared through approximately 3.5 years of research and meticulous handcraft, the collection drew attention with its historical details, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
As Türkiye participated in the programme as guest of honour, traditional henna night rituals with deep roots in Anatolia were also reenacted. The ceremony, including the bride being covered with a red veil, the henna application ritual and performances accompanied by local melodies, created colourful scenes.
The event also featured regional costumes, traditional textiles, hand embroidery, kitre dolls and kazaziye accessories produced by the Samsun Olgunlaşma Institute.
