Türkiye completes cave restoration project
Speaking at the ceremony held in the Türkiye's Kale area of the district, Governor Ekrem Canalp said that the restoration project launched three years ago has been completed and that the caves have been opened to tourism, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.
Stating that the number of restored caves will increase in the coming years, Canalp said:
“This is just the beginning. From now on, we will move forward step by step by adding new ones every year. What was the difficult part? The difficult part was doing the first one. But from now on, we will be more ambitious, not modest, because we will continue using the same method and principles.”
Canalp also noted that cave hotel projects are planned for the region, adding:
“Hopefully, we have reached the stage where we can soon tell investors, ‘come and invest’ regarding cave hotels. The zoning plan is complete, and the allocation process from the National Property Administration to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has also been finalized.”
Following the opening ceremony, Canalp and accompanying officials toured the caves.
As reported by CE Report, the program was attended by AK Party Batman Member of Parliament Ferhat Nasıroğlu, Hasankeyf District Governor Mehmet Ali İmrak, mayors, and representatives of political parties and non-governmental organizations.
