Reporters Without Borders files complaint against X over disinformation

Tech & Science

Reporters Without Borders has filed a complaint against the social media company X, owned by Elon Musk, over policies that allegedly contribute to disinformation.

In a written statement, RSF said that a complaint had been submitted to the Cybercrime Unit of the Paris Prosecutor’s Office, CE Report quotes Anadolu Agency.

The organization criticized the company for what it described as “ongoing violations of the right to reliable information” through policies based on disinformation, noting that false posts on the platform have received millions of views.

The statement added that despite RSF’s warnings, X has refused to remove such content, describing this as a “deliberate” stance and criticizing the platform’s “unlawful management policies.”

The Paris Prosecutor’s Office had previously launched an investigation into X over alleged illegal data collection and hosting of child abuse-related content. As part of the probe, searches were conducted at the company’s Paris offices in February.
