A tulip parade in April and a festival of the common daisy are planned at the University Botanic Garden in Balchik (Bulgaria) in 2026, said the garden's director, Veselina Ilieva.

This year the garden marked its 70th anniversary and the 85th anniversary of Southern Dobrudzha's return to Bulgaria. In 1940, under the Treaty of Craiova, Romania ceded Southern Dobrudzha back to Bulgaria, CE Report quotes BTA.

Exhibitions and educational events attracted more than 1,200 young visitors to the Botanic Garden.

Ilieva said the rock garden was modernized and 65,000 seedlings and 62,000 bulbs were planted for autumn/spring flowering. Schools and kindergartens in Balchik received more than 250,000 bulbs and 300,000 seedlings. "Everywhere in Balchik, people will be able to see a miniature version of our garden," said Ilieva.

As reported by CE Report, the garden will also introduce 13 new water lily varieties and expand accessibility with a vertical lift for visitors with disabilities. Educational routes and guided visits to working greenhouses are also in development.
