Hollywood ex-star admits financial struggles
Kevin Spacey, once a famed Hollywood figure, has revealed that his finances “are not good” and that he does not have a home.
The 66-year-old House of Cards actor, who is performing at a nightclub in Cyprus, said this in a new interview for the Telegraph, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.
Beginning in 2017, Spacey was accused by a number of alleged victims of sexual assault and harassment. While some accusations went to court, the actor was never convicted by a jury.
Spacey said his belongings are in storage and that he moves from hotels to Airbnbs depending on where he finds work.
“I’ve had very little coming in and everything going out,” said Spacey, describing his financial situation as “not good.”
“I live in hotels, I live in Airbnbs, I go where the work is. I literally do not have a home, that’s what I’m trying to explain.”
Spacey was accused by around 15 alleged victims of sexual assault or harassment. The first, actor Anthony Rapp, told BuzzFeed in October 2017 that Spacey made sexual advances in 1986, when Rapp was 14 years old, in Spacey’s New York apartment. Spacey has denied all accusations.
After taking time to “reflect,” Spacey is now selling tickets for a variety-style performance in Europe.
“There will be people who will speculate whether this is some kind of grand plan, but my career doesn’t work like that, and it’s not how this next chapter is going to unfold,” Spacey told the British newspaper.
He said he believes the scandal caused by the sexual assault accusations is “in his rear-view mirror,” while complaining about the friendships he lost in Hollywood.
Spacey said he has been “extremely grateful” for the people who never doubted him.
“I’ve always felt that the public was on my side and understood what had happened and wasn’t believing the things they were reading,” Spacey said.
As for a Hollywood comeback, Spacey said opportunities are slowly returning.
“We’re in touch with some people who want to bring me back to work, and that will happen in due time.”
