Exhibition highlights Croatian culture in Serbia
An exhibition of illustrations from the magazine "Nova riječ" from Subotica, a publication that since 2013 has focused on the literature and art of Croats in Vojvodina province in northern Serbia, has opened at the Croatian Heritage Foundation in Zagreb.
The exhibition, titled "Otisak misli" (Imprint of Thought), was created by Darko Vuković, a professor at the Department of Graphic Design of the Academy of Arts at the University of Novi Sad, CE Report quotes HINA.
Vuković has long collaborated with the Institute for the Culture of Vojvodina Croats and was responsible for the magazine's graphic design.
"The exhibition confirms the lasting value of literary and artistic creativity and the importance of linking the Croatian cultural scene with Croats living outside their homeland," said the Croatian Heritage Foundation, the organisation dedicated to Croats abroad.
There are 39,107 ethnic Croats living in Serbia, 80 per cent of them in Vojvodina.
The exhibition opening was enhanced by a musical performance from Subotica-born flautist and student Lucija Vukov.
"Nova riječ" is published twice a year with a print run of 500 copies.
