EasyJet launches new Ljubljana-Edinburgh service

The British low-cost airline EasyJet has launched a new twice-weekly Ljubljana-Edinburgh service as it expands its presence at Ljubljana Airport.

Available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, the new service is operated by an Airbus A320 in an 186-seat configuration, CE Report quotes The Slovenia Times.

The lowest price for a one-way ticket is currently €36, but these fares are rare and for the peak summer season a one-way ticket often exceeds €100.

The new service is a great addition, Janez Krašnja, head of airport services at airport operator Fraport Slovenija, told the press during the 1 April launch.

"After EasyJet launched the Ljubljana-London service 22 years ago and then another one flying to Manchester last year, this is now the third one linking Slovenia directly with the UK," he noted.

The service is aimed at both leisure and business travellers, and EasyJet's UK Country Manager Kevin Doyle is confident it will attract both segments of passengers.

According to Krašnja, Ljubljana-Edinburgh flights are selling well, and interest has been exceeding the airline's expectations.

The airport operator would like to see the service continue into the winter season, but it would also like EasyJet to further increase the number of Ljubljana services.

"There is no secret that we wish to see Berlin up there among the additions in the near future," Krašnja said.
