Jimmy Kimmel Live suspended following controversial comments
Jimmy Kimmel’s popular Hollywood comedy and talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, has been immediately suspended on ABC networks for an “indefinite future” following his remarks about Charlie Kirk, CE Report quotes ANSA.
American media outlets, citing Nexstar and ABC, report that during Monday’s show, Kimmel said: “We reached new lows over the weekend with the MAGA crowd trying to paint the guy who killed Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and doing everything to score political points.”
The Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, has suspended Kimmel’s show indefinitely.
This suspension follows threats from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Chairman Brendan Carr, who mentioned possible actions against Disney and ABC during a podcast in response to Kimmel’s comments.
Kimmel has long been a critic of U.S. President Donald Trump. When Stephen Colbert announced the end of his show, Trump attacked, saying, “Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly next to leave the Late Night lottery, then Fallon.” ABC recently settled a $15 million defamation lawsuit with Trump, who had accused the network and journalist George Stephanopoulos.
