The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine will focus on upgrading the infrastructure of military medical facilities where Ukrainian defenders receive treatment and rehabilitation.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

Acting Defense Minister Yevhenii Khmara, together with Deputy Defense Minister Liubov Halan, visited military medical facilities where Ukrainian service members are undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.

They spoke with military personnel receiving treatment and recovering, as well as with medical staff and facility management.

“Problematic issues requiring decisions by the Ministry of Defense have been taken up for resolution,” the ministry said.

Khmara emphasized: “The Ministry’s goals are clear: we must do everything possible to protect the lives of soldiers on the front line, ensure quality medical care in the event of injury, and create conditions for service members to return to duty after treatment and rehabilitation.”

According to him, medical training, timely evacuation and care for wounded personnel in military units will remain under constant supervision. The lives and health of service members must be a priority for every commander.

During the visit to the military medical facilities, particular attention was paid to care for wounded personnel, medical examination boards, patient referral pathways, and ensuring service members’ rights at every stage of treatment and recovery.

“We are working to make the process for a service member after being wounded simpler and to ensure that their rights are respected at every stage. To achieve this, we need to strengthen support from military units, simplify medical examinations, and improve patient referral pathways. We will develop the medical facilities where defenders receive treatment and rehabilitation and support the specialists who work with them,” Halan said.

In particular, the Defense Ministry will focus on upgrading the infrastructure of military medical facilities and supporting medical professionals.

The ministry said this would involve seeking additional resources to develop the facilities, including by securing assistance from international partners.

“Medical support for Ukrainian defenders requires modern facilities, as well as motivated and trained personnel,” Khmara emphasized.

He also thanked doctors, medical workers and everyone who works every day to restore the health and strength of Ukrainian defenders.

As reported, one of the government’s strategic objectives is to integrate military and civilian healthcare into a single medical system.
