Putin reshuffles Russian military command

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a series of changes to the command structure of the Russian military on Wednesday, including the reorganization of the Defense Ministry's logistics services and the appointment of new commanders for troop groups involved in the war in Ukraine, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

During a meeting with the leadership of the Defense Ministry, Putin said that, at the proposal of Defense Minister, all logistics services within the institution would be placed under a single command. Leadership of the unified structure was assigned to Valery Solodchuk, the former commander of the "Center" troop group. The Russian leader said that "under current conditions, this is an activity of a combat nature."

At the same time, command of the "Center" group was transferred to Andrei Ivanaev, who previously led the "East" group. The "East" group will now be headed by Piotr Bolgarev.

Putin also announced that Denis Lyamin, chief of staff of the "Center" group, will take command of Russian forces specializing in unmanned systems.

The Russian president described the changes as an "improvement of the structures of the Ministry of Defense," saying they were necessary based on the experience and requirements of Russia's military operation in Ukraine.
