U.S, Iran discuss reopening Strait of Hormuz

The United States could reach an agreement with Iran on reopening the Strait of Hormuz as early as Wednesday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said, according to AFP, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

"We are in discussions with the Iranians, and I believe there is a chance that we will reach an agreement today (Tuesday) or tomorrow (Wednesday) to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and move toward normalization," Bessent said in an interview with CNBC.

Meanwhile, Qatar, which has acted as a mediator in the conflict involving Iran, said diplomatic efforts to resolve the tensions between the United States and Iran are continuing.

However, Qatari officials noted that no direct negotiations between Washington and Tehran are currently scheduled.
