The Council for Electronic Media (CEM) has launched a new procedure to elect a director general of Bulgarian National Television (BNT), after none of the eight candidates secured the minimum required votes in Tuesday's sessions. The decision follows a Supreme Administrative Court ruling from June 23, 2025, CE Report quotes BTA

Candidates included acting director Emil Koshlukov, Sasho Dikov, Irina Velichkova, Sasho Yovkov, Vasilena Matakieva, Venelin Petkov, Krasimir Angelov, and Svetlana Bozhilova. Despite three rounds of voting, none received the minimum three votes.

CEM will accept new applications until September 12. A shortlist will be announced by October 9, with final hearings on October 14–15. The new director general will be appointed by October 16.

The leadership race began in 2022, but no candidate has yet been confirmed. Koshlukov remains in office in an acting capacity amid ongoing legal disputes.
