The 27th George Enescu International Festival kicks off on August 24 in Bucharest, celebrating 70 years since the Romanian composer’s death. This year’s edition, themed "Anniversaries / Celebrations", brings together over 4,000 artists from 28 countries for more than 95 concerts across iconic venues like the Romanian Athenaeum, Palace Hall, and the National Opera House, CE Report quotes Agerpres

The opening night features the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir under Cristian Măcelaru, with a Romanian premiere by Dan Dediu, works by Khachaturian and Enescu, and multimedia direction by Nona Ciobanu and Peter Kosir.

The festival will host music legends such as Martha Argerich, Anne-Sophie Mutter, and Gautier Capuçon, alongside top orchestras including the Royal Concertgebouw, Philharmonia Orchestra, and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.

Enescu’s music will be performed in 45 concerts, culminating with a production of Oedipe at the Bucharest National Opera. Other highlights include operas in concert, immersive multimedia shows at MINA, contemporary dance, and family-friendly events.

Tickets are available at Eventim.ro. The festival runs through September and is supported by Romania’s Ministry of Culture under the High Patronage of the President.
