
Indian Festival in Sofia Celebrates Cultural Ties
India’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, Arun Kumar Sahu, highlighted the cultural connections between India and Bulgaria at the opening of the third Indian Shopping Festival, held in the park outside Sofia's National Palace of Culture on Monday, CE Report quotes BTA
Joined by Deputy Culture Minister Ashot Kazaryan and European Commission Representation Head Yordanka Chobanova, Ambassador Sahu officially launched the event, which features Indian producers offering goods like clothing, leather items, jewelry, scarves, and homeware.
Sahu described the annual festival as a unique celebration of India’s rich cultural diversity through history, art, and craftsmanship. He noted the growing scale of the event and expressed hope it would expand further next year.
Though India and Bulgaria do not share a common history, Sahu emphasized their deep connection in the arts and cultural values. Chobanova echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of such events in strengthening EU-India relations and helping Bulgarians discover the richness of Indian culture.
