Renowned American actress Jennifer Lawrence presented her new film "Die, My Love" at the Cannes Film Festival and spoke about her experiences as a mother and the postpartum period.

She plays a young mother in the film who struggles with psychosis after developing postpartum depression, CE Report quotes Kosova Press.

The story is based on the novel by Ariana Harwicz, published in 2017. Lawrence filmed the film shortly after she gave birth to her first child with husband Cooke Maroney and is now pregnant again.

"I had just given birth to my first child," Lawrence said at the press conference, describing the postpartum period as "extremely isolating."

Her character would have no community and no friends after moving away, Lawrence explains.

"But the truth is that extreme anxiety and extreme depression are isolating no matter where you are. You feel like an outsider."

Having children yourself changes your whole life, Lawrence says from her own experience.

"It's brutal and unbelievable. I didn't know I could feel so much and my work is very much about feelings."

Lawrence's husband is portrayed in the film by actor Robert Pattinson, who also became a father in March last year.
