Museum Night in Bulgaria

Museum Night in Bulgaria

Culture

Cultural venues in 25 regions across Bulgaria stayed open late on Saturday for the 21st European Night of Museums. Over 70 sites in Sofia alone offered free admission, including the “Bulgarian Archaeology 2024” exhibit, an airship display, and a new “Guerrilla Girls” installation, CE Report quotes BTA

Regional highlights included torchlit processions, rare art in Kyustendil, medical demonstrations in Varna, and Plovdiv’s first public showing of a marble goddess head. Visitors also explored ancient sites, historical artifacts, and hands-on workshops in cities from Vratsa to Yambol.

The celebrations coincided with a symbolic nationwide protest by museum staff, who pinned ribbons to their jackets and posted demands for better pay and a collective agreement. Organizers said no full strike is planned for now.
