Varna will host the 21st International Festival of Red Cross and Health Films from June 12 to 20, marking the 60th anniversary of the event, organizers from the Bulgarian Red Cross announced, CE Report quotes BTA

More than 200 films, selected from over 3,000 submissions from 110 countries, will be screened in the festival’s competition programme. The event also includes workshops, discussion forums, educational academies, and special segments like Silver Screen 60+ and Cross Section, blending cinema with other art forms.

The festival, founded in 1965 as Bulgaria’s first international film forum, promotes its long-standing motto: "Through Humanism to Peace and Friendship." It focuses on global social issues such as health, human rights, the environment, and migration through the lens of cinema.

Distinguished guests, including actors, directors, medical professionals, and diplomats from around the world, are expected to attend. The festival is held under the patronage of Vice President Iliana Iotova, with the support of UNESCO, the WHO, the IFRC, and the Bulgarian Red Cross.
