Space Research and Technology Institute Marks 55th Anniversary

The Space Research and Technology Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (SRTI-BAS) Tuesday celebrated its 55th anniversary. The event also celebrated the 45th anniversary of the flight of the first Bulgarian cosmonaut, Georgi Ivanov, and the 20th anniversary of the International Scientific Session Space - Ecology - Safety. The anniversaries were honoured at a session in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, said SRTI-BAS, CE Report quotes BTA

It was held under the auspices of President Rumen Radev.

Among the guests were Bulgarian cosmonaut Georgi Ivanov and foreign cosmonauts, including Bertalan Farkas of Hungary, Vladimír Remek of Czechia and Dumitru-Dorin Prunariu of Romania. All of them have worked under the Intercosmos space programme, part of which was also Georgi Ivanov's space flight.
