North Macedonia opposition warns of “financial abyss”
The economist dilettante, Hristijan Mickoski, and his VMRO-DPMNE “OCG” are indebting North Macedonia at an unprecedented pace and pushing it into a financial abyss. Only in the first three months of this year, a new debt of 700 million euros was created. This is being done on the backs of the people and future generations, states press release from the Public Communications Center of SDSM, delivered at a press conference by Bogdanka Kuzeska – spokesperson and member of the Executive Committee.
In two years since Mickoski came to power, public debt has increased by a massive 2.3 billion euros and now amounts to 10 billion and 774 million euros, the highest level in history, CE Report quotes MIA.
To be clear: this is pure, new debt. Everything that has been repaid has already been deducted from the calculations – this refers to net borrowing, directly created by this incompetent and wasteful government.
2.3 billion euros in new debt, and at the same time: there is no money for higher wages for workers, the government refuses to raise the minimum wage to 600 euros, there are no measures against rising prices, and citizens are left alone to cope with poverty in crisis conditions.
Borrowing is only for criminal tenders and enrichment of VMRO-DPMNE “OCG”.
Borrowing for their organized schemes of extracting money. For planes, watches, business networks.
This is a criminal government that does not work for the citizens, but for its own business interests and enrichment on the backs of the people.
Citizens today pay with their standard of living, and tomorrow their children will pay as well. This debt will be repaid by future generations.
Additionally, the budget deficit for just three months amounts to 408 million euros – another proof of the complete collapse of public finances.
Revenues have been realized at barely 20%, which means the government is not creating value, but only spending and borrowing.
This is a direct rebuttal to Mickoski’s false claims that North Macedonia is the “third economy in Europe.” The reality is the opposite – the economy is sinking, and citizens are becoming poorer.
The economic policies of this government are misguided, and the economic dilettantism of Hristijan Mickoski is costing the state billions of euros.
SDSM warns: this is a dangerous and unsustainable path leading to a financial abyss and uncertainty.
