Croatian Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković and Mostar Mayor Mario Kordić signed an agreement in Mostar allocating funds to improve the air transport system in the city.

Under the agreement, the Government of the Republic of Croatia has granted €1.75 million to Mostar Airport, CE Report quotes FENA.

According to Minister Butković, of the total €1.75 million, €950,000 will be used to support air connectivity between Zagreb and Mostar, while the remaining €800,000 is earmarked for investments in security, infrastructure and equipment.

“Over the past two years, thanks to the Government of the Republic of Croatia and cooperation with the City of Mostar and Mostar Airport, we have jointly ensured that today this airport serves around 70,000 passengers per year, and that through subsidies and support for the Zagreb–Mostar route, a total of about 21,000 passengers have been transported over these two years.

Today’s signing of the agreement, with a total value of €1.75 million, provides for the continuation of subsidies for air services between Zagreb and Mostar in both directions, as well as €800,000 for the airport’s infrastructure expansion, including the extension of the terminal, and a continuation phase that will also include runway lighting and an entire project worth around €3.5 million, which we will continue to implement,” the minister emphasized.
