Cash Withdrawals in Shops for Rural Moldova

Business

Residents of rural areas in Moldova will soon be able to withdraw cash directly from their bank cards in local shops, eliminating the need to find an ATM. The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, responds to requests from the business community and aims to improve access to cash in settlements without ATMs.

Shoppers will be able to request up to 1,000 lei per transaction, with a monthly limit of 100,000 lei, when making purchases at stores with POS terminals. Deputy Prime Minister Doina Nistor highlighted that the move promotes financial inclusion, supports the growth of a cashless economy, and brings greater transparency to financial flows, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES

The measure will come into effect after the draft law is approved by parliament.
