The expansion of airport capacities, the development potential of Mărculești, and the creation of an integrated master plan were the main topics discussed with international investors during meetings led by Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development (MIDR) of Moldova, Vladimir Bolea.

The discussions focused on the need to modernize and expand existing capacities, as well as identify strategic solutions for the long-term development of the sector, CE Report quotes MOLDPRES.

The meeting included Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugeniu Osmochescu and the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova, Alexandru Guzun, who presented investors with the general framework of economic policies and priority development directions.

Authorities presented their vision for airport infrastructure development in the context of rapidly increasing passenger traffic at Chișinău International Airport.

“The positive growth in passenger flows requires expanding operational capacities, modernizing infrastructure, and optimizing related services so the airport can meet rising demand and maintain competitive regional standards,” Vladimir Bolea noted.

Another important topic focused on harnessing the potential of Mărculești Airport. Officials said this platform could become a multimodal logistics hub integrated with a free economic zone, attracting investments in cargo transport, logistics services, and related industries.

“Such development would contribute to diversifying the national transport infrastructure and strengthening the Republic of Moldova’s position in regional trade networks,” Bolea added.

Discussions also addressed the creation of a strategic master plan to ensure efficient use of existing and planned infrastructure and to maximize investment potential. The plan would outline development stages, funding priorities, and cooperation mechanisms with international partners, benefiting the national economy.

The meeting represented the first exchange of information between authorities and potential investors regarding Moldova’s priorities and the interests of the international business community. In a regional context marked by economic and logistical transformations, external partners highlighted the pace of reforms and progress made by the country, which enhances Moldova’s investment attractiveness.
