
Russian Taught in 10 Bulgarian Schools
Only ten schools in Bulgaria teach Russian as the first foreign language, Education and Science Minister Krasimir Valchev stated during a national conference in Sofia. Although Russian classes exist in 40 schools, most students choose it as a second foreign language due to its easier learning curve and cultural ties. Valchev stressed that the number of students learning Russian has decreased.
