On Monday, the Justice Ministry unveiled a package of measures aimed at reducing delays in serious traffic accident cases. Currently under public consultation, the proposals include revisions to the Criminal Procedure Code, Judicial Power Act, and Expert Witnesses Ordinance. Key suggestions include allowing courts to question expert witnesses via videoconference and introducing eligibility tests for expert witnesses. Additionally, the Ministry proposes granting the Justice Minister the authority to remove underperforming experts from court lists.

Georgiev pointed out that delays in collecting evidence can extend up to six years in some cases, contributing to a significant sense of justice being delayed. He emphasized that these reforms aim to eliminate the main causes of litigation delays, ensuring that experts cannot hinder the judicial process by handling multiple cases at once.
