CC-DB Marks Third Anniversary of Russia’s War on Ukraine with Strong Declaration

Bulgaria

The Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) coalition issued a declaration on the third anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. MP Yavor Bozhankov presented the statement in Parliament, highlighting the Kremlin’s past denials and its broader pattern of aggression, including Georgia in 2008 and Crimea in 2014, CE Report quotes BTA

Bozhankov condemned Russia’s actions, stating that its aim is to destroy Ukraine as a sovereign state, destabilize the EU, and weaken NATO. However, he emphasized Ukraine’s heroic resistance and the West’s firm support. He cited the country’s heavy toll, with 41,000 civilian casualties and millions in need of humanitarian aid, while NATO's expansion has continued despite Russian threats.

The declaration also noted Bulgaria’s increasing risks, as Russia questions NATO’s collective defense in Eastern Europe. Bozhankov criticized Bulgarian political figures for their shifting rhetoric and warned that Bulgaria’s European future is at stake. He reaffirmed CC-DB’s unwavering support for Ukraine and Bulgaria’s role in European security, pledging to oppose any threats to EU and NATO membership.
