Luxembourg creates dedicated military aid line for Ukraine

Luxembourg will allocate an additional EUR 10 million to support Ukraine's defense industry.

This was stated by the nation’s Defense Minister Yuriko Backes at a joint briefing in Kyiv with Ukrainian and Foreign Ministers, Andrii Sybiha and Xavier Bettel, CE Report quotes Ukrinform.

“For the first time this year, upon my recommendation, we have in the Luxembourg budget an article of a aligned specifically dedicated to your country. We don't have this for any other country, so we have a specific budget line for military aid to Ukraine, which has been filled with 80 million euros for this year as a minimum. And today, I am very glad to announce that immediately we will put at your disposal another 10 million euros of investment into your defense,” she said.

Backes added that the Luxembourg government is currently exploring ways to increase its defense spending, a significant part of which will be directed to supporting Ukraine in the future.

For his part, Sybiha said Luxembourg's defense support for Ukraine has already exceeded EUR 250 million, and emphasized that Kyiv highly values the country's participation in four defense coalitions, in particular in the IT coalition, which Luxembourg co-chairs.

As reported earlier, Luxembourg will also allocate EUR 10 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund in 2025.
