Wizz Air is set to introduce two new direct flights from North Macedonia's Skopje to Italy’s Palermo and Alghero in July, the company announced.

Towards the end of March, flights to Budapest and Naples will also be launched at the Skopje International Airport, as well as to Milano at the Ohrid airport, CE Report quotes MIA.

In May, Austrian Airlines is expected to launch flights connecting Ohrid and Vienna, while in June, Wizz Air will introduce two new routes from Ohrid to Katowice and Wroclaw.

“These two new Wizz Air roues are expected to boost traffic at the Skopje airport even more, after its record year in 2025 with over 3.2 million passangers. With the new routes, the airport is becoming a leader in the region,” Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport of North Macedonia Aleksandar Nikoloski wrote in a post on his official Facebook page.

Airport operator TAV Macedonia said the air route from Skopje to Palermo will operate three times a week, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with fares available from EUR 29.99. While the Skopje - Alghero route will be operated twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, with fares available from EUR 39.99.

The flights to the two new destinations are planned as seasonal routes and will operate until September 11th and 12th.

“With an array of new routes launching, we proudly reaffirm our commitment to growth and innovation, paving the way for new partnerships, cultural exchanges, and easier access to the vibrant European markets. And if you thought we had stopped, no we are just getting started,” said TAV Macedonia General Manager Nejat Kurt said in a press release.
